If you are interested in getting started in guitar repair and setups, this is the best training investment you can make. Dan not only shows you how to do it RIGHT, he also saves you money by doing most of it with homemade tools. Get your notebook ready, there is a ton of great stuff here!
If your getting these , you know who Dan Erlewine Is , If not you are in for a treat.
What can I say, Dan is the man!!! I own two basses, but I'm really a guitar player. This DVD helped a great deal in understanding the bass and how to keep in tip top shape.
I like having the artist come in and play and talk about their setups.
The DVD caught me by surprise though because it was not ordered the way I thought it would be. I thought the DVD would be ordered like most books I've read on setup. It was nice that it wasn't. It was almost like having a conversation instead of instruction.
Great! Great! Great!
Extremely informative. I have one of Dan Erlewine's books and this was much better than looking at pictures and reading. He had many tips & interesting self made tools he uses.
Well worth the long wait. Seeing how to properly setup and tweak tremolo/vibrato units (Start, Floyd Rose)is worth the price of admission! D.E. shows and tells exactly what to do and watch for. Be prepared for some serious stool envy, as these videos are basically long form ads for StewMac, but hey, the info is top notch and Dan Erlewine is THE GURU for beginning guitar builders/repairmen.
Highly Recommended.
Very good DVD. Though I would have liked him to cover basic setups in a bit greater detail, because this seems to be the most common maintenance issue for most players. Like how to access the truss rod on a Strat w/ the rod underneath the pickguard at the base of the guitar, etc. And how to assess and correct different types of fret buzz, etc.

Excellent presentation of information that is sometimes confusing.
