These are the same "Secrets" that you found on the Wood Central website. Everything is here, surface preparation, the finishes, how the finishes are used on real turning projects, and several new topics including waxes, buffing wheels, CA Glue as a finish, selecting the right finish for our project, and finishing safety.

Ok, well to start out with, I should say that there are 3 DVDs in this set, and the whole thing could have been done on one in my opinion. I am extremely interested in woodturning, and especially in finishing, but this was the first video rental that I can say I was sorry I rented. It is very slow going, lots of pauses by the speaker.
Frequently at times, he leans down into the camera as if it was not adjusted at the proper height. Sometimes he is only partway in the cameras view while speaking, and there are number of contradiction in what he tells you, and in what he actually does just five minutes later.
I'm sorry but this has every appearance of having been done with a home video camera in a garage with nobody present but the speaker/demonstrator. I would not recommend this video at all.
If you want to learn how to finish turned objects, I highly recommend this 3 set video. Unlike other videos on finishing that I've seen where the demonstrator only puts on the first coat and leaves the rest of the important steps to your imagination, in this set of DVDs you get to actually see all the steps that are required to get excellent finishes from oil, lacquer, shellac, wax and CA. Although the content matter is excellent and well organized, the actual production of the video is amateurish, especially the editing. If you're interested in content and can put up with less than professional camera work, you won't be disappointed.
I just returned Finishing Secrets II having thoroughly enjoyed it. He goes into things in detail which is what I needed. I am a poor finisher so need all the bases covered. I certainly would recommend it to anyone. He talks about reasons for what he does as well as giving directions how you do it. Thank you. I am going to order # III shortly. T. Blake Matthews
