As a new altered artist I enjoyed the basic how-to explainations Mary Jo presents in this program. I had started buying materials but wasn't sure what to do with all of them. Now I feel confident to try new techniques. The additional ideas help take everything one step further. This is a great DVD to watch if you are a beginner or intermediate mixed-media artist.

I didnt find this especially helpful. If you're an absolute beginner this could help, but I felt like we were watching her push the mediums around on paper for a LONG time. Also it sounded like she walked away from the microphone alot. I prefer the Tom Holtz videos, he moves at a good pace, much better lighting and sound and altogether more interesting. This video seemed like it was made in someones dark basement. Also she didn't even mention that a "medium's" purpose is to mix with your paint for texture, slowing or speeding up drying times, making paint thicker or thinner. Not so helpful.
