I liked this DVD a lot. All the basics of inlays are covered in such a way that he makes it look simple. In fact, I went through a box lid and rather then tossing it I decided to stick an inlay on top. Worked like a charm!
Chris Stott's presentation is rather zombie like but the information is great and there is lots of it. I wish I could find a DVD of this to buy. Only VHS is available and I got rid of my machine a while ago.
Highly recommended.
I had to watch this video a number of times and take some notes to retain the steps. It's one i would like to buy for further reference. professional job of filming and adding voice later so the author's comments can be heard. His work is very attractive to me and i would like to copy some of techniques. Highly rated.
This is a professionally made-how to video that requires several viewings to pick up all the info. as a matter of fact, i took notes the second time because the sequence of steps is important. if you like lidded boxes this is a good primer.
Great DVD. I own the Raffan video on box turning. I liked this one much better. Chris Stott and Richard Raffan both are great turners and both are amazing box makers. Mr. Raffan amazes you with how quickly he makes decisions, cuts, etc. Chris Stott takes a lot more time explaining the various cuts and when to make those cuts, how to use the tools, etc. I feel like you get in lot more instruction in his DVD. The picture and sound are excellent and Smartflix gave great service.
A Lesson with Chris Stot: Inlaid and Novelty Boxes, was very informative. I turned professionally from 1949 through 1982, and now as a hobby. I still learned from it.
