In this workshop, Terry teaches you to tackle nature one square at a time. He shares his efficient and innovative process for blocking in shapes and colors. He teaches you to divide your canvas and reference material, allowing you to paint what you see instead of worrying about the complexity of the whole. With his basic shapes in place, Terry explains how to critique your first draft, make revisions and add a first layer of delicate details. Terry then shifts his attention to the Rufus hummingbird at the top of his canvas. He transfers the bird from photo to sketch to canvas before your eyes then gives tips on realistic lighting, perspective and anatomy. Finally, Terry adds highlights to the entire painting and makes final revisions to his design, resulting in a bold, colorful wildlife scene.
As a bonus to the workshop painting, Terry explores composition and teaches techniques for filling in grasses and shorelines on a painting already in progress.

Terry's style and how he presents it is very easy to understand and will make one's painting experience much easier in acrylic. I not only enjoyed the video but am now incorporating his technique in to my acrylic wildlife painting.
This is an excellent DVD. Terry Issac's method of using photos for reference material was very helpful.
I highly recommend this dvd....I enjoyed it and it taught me a lot about acrylic techniques.
The DVD was great. It was very informative and easy to understand and follow. His method of doing a painting a section at a time is great. I am going to give it a try.
I'm so glad to know how Terry gets all of his detail - even in the landscape in which his subject is placed! I'm familiar with working square by square to get photo realistic detail in pastel...I just didn't know how you could also do that in a wet medium. Although my approach is slightly different, I have put his ideas to work immediately, and I am amazed at the results that I can get. I'm so glad I rented this DVD!
It was not was I was expecting. I thought it was going to be a step by step guide on how to paint. I was disappointed.
Excellent Video. I learned a lot about layering and technique.
