The instruction in this DVD was dead on. I have been painting for over 30 years off and on and being self taught I wanted to see other artist take on certain techniques and theories.
This dvd takes you step by step and gives great close ups so that you see everything as it is being done. You also get some insight on the artist's opionions on which colors are good to work with and which are not. All in all an excellent DVD for experts and novice alike. I watched it through three times over the weekend
As always, Johnnie Liliedahl shares her talent with us in a step by step guide.She is an awesome teacher and a talented artist. A must-rent DVD set for all portrait artist!
Great from start to finish. She has a good template to work with and her instructions were somewhat simply. She could have spent more time on color mixing. I think it is important to know how she arrive at the color tones.

Great video I would recommend this DVD for any one wishing to learn portrait painting. Was disappointed the rental did not come with the drawing or the printed inserts of flesh tone color mixtures she talks about and were included with the companion video Giving Thanks. Still a very good video.
This is an amazing video, I want to thank Johnnie the artist for this wonderful portrait, it showed me a few tips on portrait oil paintings that I wanted to learn, I am just a beginner. This is a great video for any level! This was my first time renting a Liliedahl video. She is an excellent teacher and gives many tips and ideas for working from photos in your studio, which is probably the way the majority of us will be painting portraits. She explains her process and her palette in a way that is logical, accessible and practical. A highly skilled artist and teacher! I'll be renting more Liliedahl DVD's.
