Learn techniques for smooth walls and ceilings
Here's your chance to watch an experienced pro at work and to learn all the tricks and techniques he uses to create smooth, unblemished walls and ceilings. Veteran drywaller Myron Ferguson shows you how to:
* take the right measurements and estimate materials
* cut and hang panels efficiently, even when the framing is out of whack
* handle everything from simple walls to cathedral ceilings, curved walls and archways
* tape and finish drywall with a minimum of sanding
* sand and prepare walls for paint
* correct mistakes and make repairs
You'll also learn things you can't get from a book -- how to pick up and position panels safely and efficiently, how to spread on joint compound, and how much pressure to use with a drywall trowel or sander.

I was a little disappointed because I rented this video to pick up some tips on dry wall taping with the various tools available today.
The techniques Myron shows for hanging drywall are excellent and if that is what you're after then rent this video. Myron definitely knows many, many ways to make the job of hanging drywall faster and easier.
However, unless you are absolutely new to drywall taping I felt this video is a little weak. He covers only very basic taping techniques and doesn't address any of the problems a new comer would run into. For experienced drywallers no advanced techniques are covered. In addition I would have liked to see some demonstration of the use of a Banjo or Bazooka.
Texturing is not covered either but the video never claims it is.
If you are new to drywalling, rent this video however for anyone that's worked with drywall before I think you may be disappointed.
This instructional video was impressive. It provided a comprehensive demonstration of how to measure, cut, and affix drywall panels with maximum efficiency (in terms of time, labor, and materials). The presentation of applying joint compound, tape, and eding was very good too.
This is a good DVD for a beginner such as myself. We watched it several times and have mostly completed our drywall project. It turned out very well.
The production is good, the instructor is excellent. Camera technique could stand some improvement with better lighting and closer, more focused shots, in places. It's obvious that Ferguson knows his stuff, and he does an excellent job with presentation and skills set. Being good at your work and a great teacher is a rare combination.
My only criticism, other than what's mentioned above, is that another half-hour of additional instruction would have made this a 5+ video. Due to the minor detractors, 4.5 stars.
Great job, Myron!
This DVD provided a very good overall description of the various steps necessary for a professional drywall job. It contained a lot of good tips. It was well worth the rental fee.
