Tapestry is a pictorial weaving technique and can be woven on any type of a loom-even a simple self-constructed frame loom, and instructions for making one are included
in the video. This course includes technical considerations as well as many tapestry techniques. You will learn how to weave horizontal, vertical, diagonal, circular,
vertical curving and horizontal curving shapes, using a variety of tapestry techniques as you complete three projects which can be made into pillows.
Finishing & mounting methods are also presented.
This course builds a solid foundation for any further tapestry exploration & is a prerequisites for Tapestry Weaving - Level II.
If you have not woven before, Introduction to Weaving" is a helpful prerequisite to this course.

This course continues where Level I left off, and includes tips and techniques as they apply to weaving from the back or the front. Techniques include horizontal
shading, hatching, hachures and floating bars, vertical shading, vertical outlining and refinements of many interlocking techniques. The student will be involved in
many of the planning & weaving decisions.
The finished piece will be constructed into a functional tote bag.

This is a wonderful video for beginners and the experienced. The camera work is great and Nancy Harvey explains each step.
I have rented other SmartFlix DVD's and was very satisfied with them--in one case deciding to buy the DVD after viewing it. However, I was disappointed with this one. The video quality was very poor, with the sound and video becoming very out of sync about a third of the way through the disc.
I also felt somewhat mislead. The description promised instructions on how to construct and weave on a tapestry frame loom. Instructions were very brief, with the actual video shown using a 4 harness floor loom, and 'how to build' info was a couple of paragraphs on the enclosed printed material.
I can't honestly recommend this video to others and wish I hadn't wasted my time and money.
