In this DVD Zack Petroc presents a modern approach to digital sculpting that includes technical discussions, and features in-depth techniques for adding life and realism to your characters. Using a Maya-to-ZBrush workflow, the viewer takes a step-by-step look at how underlying muscles and bone structure affect the true form of the human body. The Maya content highlights creating and preparing a low-resolution base mesh, and includes techniques that apply to other Poly modeling packages. The central part of this demonstration takes place in ZBrush, with a comprehensive description of how to develop anatomy while adding weight, balance, and realism to your character. Finally, Zack showcases techniques for using the detailed ZBrush mesh to create an organized animatable mesh in Maya. This lecture is intended for all students and professionals who wish to strengthen their character work through furthering their knowledge of human anatomy.

First, this video is amazing to watch. Mr. Petroc gives thoughtful commentary as you watch the whole process unfold in 2X time. It's focus really is on the sculpting process. Starting with a low-poly figure in Maya, exported to Zbrush. Detailing how to develop the "gesture" of the anatomy, such as the weight distribution and how the muscles connect to the structure. Then showing how to (highly) detail every facet of the finished sculpture. The only improvement could be a provided skeleton to begin the process with, so I wouldn't have to build one. References, however, are provided in the notes. In all, a great resource!
Mr. Petroc has an excellent understanding of human anatomy, a knowledge so thorough that sculpting a figure seems to be second-nature to him. He approaches it in a very intuitive way. Although it is very impressive to watch him go through the process of building a body complete with muscle tension and details like wrinkles and veins, his lack of explanation during the process is a little disappointing. I was hoping he would talk about anatomy as he was building up the figure, but his commentary is more about tools. This is a great DVD to watch to see a master sculptor approach the human form, and to get a sense of workflow. He doesn't skip steps, so you get to see the whole thing from start to finish. However, he really zips through the first stage of modeling a simple figure in maya - and uses a 3d skeleton model (customized) as a base. It would have been much easier to follow this DVD if the skeleton had been included. I would recommend that you are comfortable with quality box modeling, and have an advanced understanding of topology to get the most from this DVD.
