WOW! Jane Conner-Ziser is a wonderful instructor. Very pleasant to listen to, provides precise details, communicates in terms that are easy to understand and comprehend. If you want to LEARN how to paint portraits, I highly recommend this series. It's just a joy to sit back and learn from her.
WOW! These DVDs are just excellent! I learned so many new techniques. Be sure to take plenty of notes - you'll forget things and want to refer back to them.
There are so many lessons included - it was hard to watch and digest them in just one week! Jane Conner-Sizer is and excellent teacher. She explains in detail what she's doing and why.
I would highly recommend them for anyone wanting to learn more of Photoshop and Corel Painter.
Outstanding. This was a great video ; I will rent again. I recommend SmartFlix to everyone.
I liked the video set (2 DVDs). The second one would not play on my external Plextor DVD player, and I was afraid I would not be able to go thru all the tutorials. It just made a rattling sound in the DVD player. Then I put it in the lower quality DVD player that is in my computer and it did read it, so some DVD players may have trouble with the 2nd DVD in the set.
Once I got started I really did get a lot out of the tutorials, even tho they were developed for Photoshop CS or CS2 and I have Photoshop CS3 which acts a little differently. Also the Painter side was developed for Painter IX and I have Painter X.
It was still a worthwhile rental as I could apply what I learned to my later versions in different ways. Jane Conner-Zizer does beautiful work and I especially was glad to learn some of her techniques with eyes and skin.
I will definitely rent more tutorials from SmartFlix in the future.
This is the 2nd rental now for me with SmartFlix and I have to say I'm a real believer in the company's ability to choose professionals who can walk the walk.
Expanded Portraits is a wholly different approach of techniques and one that is very good to know. Getting a very broad sense of know-how in Painter after seeing 3 different artists has really changed my narrow approach to artistry within the program. I can't imagine what I will learn next, but I hope to find someone who does sketchy pencil because that is a nice feel.
This DVD set is a must have. Each DVD is parceled into several chapters, letting you stop and pick up later.
I like this tutor very much. The tutor explain step by step how to perform a task.
Excellent video and so much useful information. I WILL be buying my own copy.
I just found this site & rented 2 DVD's, what a great idea! I can't afford to purchase, so this is great! Bravo to those of us who LOVE to learn....www.artbyarlene.com
I'm reasonably proficient at PhotoShop and wanted to expand beyond photo retouching. This tutorial was excellent not only in giving me the grounding I needed in Painter the application, but a solid grounding in the techniques required to turn a photo into a watercolor equivalent.
I especially liked the work on the eyes.
One thing I would have liked to see is a little composite work - adding a different/interesting background rather than manipulating the one that was already there. With that said, I think I have enough to figure that out myself, compositing a new background in Photoshop (not covered in the DVD) and then making sure it's nicely blended in Painter.
Looking forward to the companion DVD...
This was a great DVD. This was the second time I rented this and funny how you get different things out of it. There was a big "ah-ha" moment when I watched the part on working on the eyes. Jane Conner-Zeiser is for sure one of Jed Taufer's (VGallery) mentors. I always wondered how he did the eyes and now I know. Cha-ching!
