Taking good photographs of subjects or scenes you want to paint, or of your own artwork after a painting is finished, can be a challenging, time consuming & frustrating task. Doing the painting was hard enough, but now comes yet another challenge: to take a photograph that does not diminish the quality that you worked so hard to get in the first place.
Which camera should you use to get the desired result (small format, large format, film, digital), how do you properly measure the light, which exposure settings should you use, how do you eliminate glare?
These are just a few of the problems and questions that Scott's video answers and explains in a clear and articulate manner. As an artist who is frequently called on to submit photos & transparencies for magazines articles, art competitions and exhibitions, Scott knows, through experience, how to quickly take the best photos and passes that knowledge and skill on to you in this excellent video.

This video is well done. It really shows you the in and out of doing your own photography. I learned I don't want to do my own.
A very worthy video if you're planning on getting a 4x5 camera. Title aside, this is primarily a video on cameras in general and the 4x5 in particular. The tips pertaining directly to the photography of artwork are quite sparse.
Not enough info on DIGITAL camera photography, really hardly any. Since that is the camera most people use now, I felt like it was a waste of my time to watch.
This video was very well organized with lots of valuable technical information about photography in general and more specifically about photographing artwork. Easy to understand for the layperson, plenty of examples, demos and a charming interesting presentation. The Best!
I was thinking it would be more up to date and go into digital photography. It is a great video for the photographer that uses films to make slides.
This dvd was way too technical for me as I'm a real beginner with photography.
