I have now viewed several Hometime videos on various subjects. All are useful to get an idea of the "steps" necessary to complete a given project. This video covers a large number of seemingly unrelated projects from framing various parts of an addition to installing different types of windows and doors, and even finish carpentry of trim, crown molding, and fireplace mantle. I had several problems with this video. First there was just too many subjects covered with very little time devoted to the discussion of details behind the types of materials used, and how to master the techniques to do the work well. No attention is given to how and why problems occur and what would be needed to fix these problems. Some how everything that is installed is plumb and level on the initial installation. Video editing is wonderful for getting in right the first time. I suppose this was done to save time. This may be because the actors explaining the steps are not the skilled tradesman that actually do the work.
