I wasnt realy impressed with this video, it claims it is going to teach u how to paint this women, but what he does is shows u how to use a product 'precut mask' it is ok if u can just watch someone paint and learn from watching them, but i need instruction. It does however show some very helpful tricks at the end of the video, and a very sexy bonus of the model.
I will have to agree with the previous reviewer. It is not a bad video , it does have some entertainment value to it , but without the masks that are used in the video's . the information is not useful . But in anoter view be creative . make your own maskes , or purchase the masks from the site this video promotes. overall out of a scale of 1-100 I will give this video a 45
i am in agreement with the first two reviewers. i thought i would be getting instruction on how to airbrush pin-ups, which it does, but not in the traditional ways. he uses a computer with high dollar software and a high dollar vinyl cutting machine to cut out the masks with. not very helpful in getting a beginner like me started. still an interesting video to watch nonetheless. the extra of the model at the end was pretty hot.
Watch this DVD, purchase the masks from Mike's Web site, then watch the DVD again and follow along.
When you airbrush, you mask with Frisket, contact paper, tape, cardboard, plastic, etc. Mike has developed a great system. You get tutored, a source for the professionally cut vinyl masks and a sudo-paint-by-numbers approach to creating nose-art type graphics.
I went a little retro and sprayed Bree (the model), a bit more '40s era. A throw-back to the pin-ups of WWII.
Mike Learn has recognized an opportunity to cash-in, with sponsors, product placement, and ultimately DVD sales. That's fine, but he CAN'T teach. That should be the point here. To make things worse, the difficult-to-grasp-yet-SPED-THROUGH concepts on this DVD are broken up by some juvenile acting by Learn, Krash, and their bouyant model, who, I'm sorry, has a moustache.
If you ask me the videos are great for little tips and tricks. They helped me a ton! You can't see any video and be an expert overnight. However you can use the basic steps Mike uses in the video with some transfer paper cut it yourself and come up with a nice piece of work. You have to remember if you rent videos they are not going to make you any better unless you practice. Love the videos and look forward to more from Mike.
I think his stencil system is great for beginners like myself. Now I see why I need to get a high detail brush. It doesn't hurt that he has a great model to look at all day!! Mike
I like the way Mike can have fun while making these vids. Great detail work and tons of tips, great for newbies. Very informative on getting the right light sources and shadows.
good video....Mike goes through the project and explains how to use his Belly Guns system of painting very well.
Even though the video focuses on using a precut paint mask made on a plotter, the information provided and the way Mike teaches to paint can be used even without the high priced equipment.
