Everybody likes to buy something in a gallery or at an arts and crafts fair...but maybe they just can't afford a large piece of sculpture, yet everyone can afford a copper butterfly. Many people purchase these as a small thank you gift or a gift for a child's teacher.
There are so many ways that these butterflies can be used. From plant butterflies to wall sculptures and also incorporated into larger wall sculptures.
On some of the butterflies you can do flame coloring. It's fascinating to see the greens, blues and reds appear on the copper. Providing another color variation or what you often hear refered to as "adding interest".
So often in my work it is the little things that count - "adding interest". You'll find these tips on adding "interest" throughout the video.
This is an excellent starter video. In this video you will see each step. From the basic materials right up to the finished product.
Also included is a section on making dragonflies. These are very popular.

Maybe it's that I'm not very interested in butterflies or felt most people interested in this hobby could figure out 90% of this stuff without watching this video. And why does George take the time to go over every tool he uses and then blow right past torch selection and set up? Isn't that the most essential tool to this hobby? Maybe it's in his first video. It's the only one I haven't watched but why would I have to buy / rent that video if all I was interested in was creating butterflies?
This DVD is great for anyone that is interested in doing metal sculptures. The pictures are clean and the lighting is good. George shows you wahat he is talking about as he does it instead of as so many other only give you face time. The added touch of different angles of some shots are nice. Even if you aren't going to do the subject matter, he gives enough info so anyone can build sculpture of any subject. After viewing a couple of his DVDs.
