Well structured outline and good material...same for Tactical Pistol 2.
Tactical Pistol 1 & 2 are very good...I also recommend Tactical Shotgun from Gunsite.
This is a solid, basic-info DVD. I would recommend this to anyone who is new to using the pistol as a defensive weapon, or new to pistols in general.
I would not recommend it to anyone who has military or law enforcement background or training, since the material will not be new for them.
There is a fun dry-fire exercise section after the instructional section of the DVD.
I rented this after James Yeager's "Fighting Pistol" 3 DVD series.
I like his series much better. I gave it a great review.
While I like this material, this is a DVD as to how things are supposed to work in a perfect world. I like the material from Thunder Ranch much better because Clint lets you in on how to be prepared when things aren't so perfect. Watch these and then go watch the Thunder Ranch series.
Don't bother with this one. If you want a video that is remotely realistic in terms of actual, street, down and dirty gunfighting, watch Fighting Pistol instead.
This Gunsite video may have been state of the art in the '70's and may work if you are in a proactive mode, good lighting scenario, but in real life, behind the reactionary curve, bad lighting, bad breath distance, you will end up dead.
Brief overview of the tactical pistol. #1 is primarily an explanation of the Modern Technique of the Pistol; weaver stance, presentation, flash sight picture, compressed suprise break and the heavy duty pistol. Other topics include; reloading, failure drills, malfunction clearances, barricades and corners and low light considerations.
Jack Furr and Bill Jeans are the instructors. There are 38 minutes of instruction followed by a dry fire session for a total of 48 minutes.
#2 picks up the pace a bit. The items on #1 are reviewed and then additional topics are discussed/demonstrated; ground fighting techniques, retention position, vehicles, searching, etc...
This disk is 35 minutes long with Richard Jee as the primary instructor.
Excellent review course this must be watched in concert with tactical pistol 2. If you are thinking about going to Gunsite to take a course this is a great video to watch before you go. Highly recommended for new gun owners.
