This series take you step-by-step through every type of cosmetic repair that can and should be done by any boat owner. You will learn the proper techniques, materials, tools and tricks of the trade from one of the best fiberglass repairmen in the country, with over 20 years of experience to share.
Volume 1 covers the most common gelcoat damage: scratches, gouges, and chips, as well as drilled holes on decks and cabins from hardware changes. This program also includes detailed instructions on how to match gel coat color and how to refinish all repairs like a pro.
(about 100 minutes)
Volume 2 continues with the repair instructions for those hollow areas under the gelcoat called "air voids" and then explains the causes and proper repair of stress cracks. NOTE: for color-matching information, be sure to also rent volume 1 or 3.
(about 104 minutes)
Volume 3 contains detailed instructions on how to match gel coat colors, how to refinish all repairs which include mixing, catalyzing, and spraying gelcoat, and finally, teaches you the proper method of sanding and buffing any repair (the sanding and buffing is also covered in volume 1)
(about 38 minutes)

Really great videos and tips about how to have a good job and provide the confidence to tackle the projects.
Again, great job.
Thanks, Tom Cook
I really got some good information from these videos. The information on color matching alone was worth the price. The only complaint I have is that a lot of the information was repeated. Overall very pleased though. I think I can tackle the repairs I need to make with confidence.
Good information, however, would like to have known that the DVD was made in 1989 and the author was not available to ask more questions.
My opinion is that in this 3 DVD series, #2 is the one worth renting. The other two are overlapping information and I wouldn't recommend.
I thought the video was very informational. Have not put it to practice yet, but the tips seemed to be good. I like how it takes you step by step through the process along with the tips. Jim O'Hara Atlanta, GA
I thought the DVD was very helpful. video quality is only fair (probably dubbed from tape) but the presentation was very good by an experienced pro who comes across as someone who really enjoys his work as well as teaching us novices the tricks of the trade. the instruction only takes you thru touch-ups and minor repairs but this is the first material I've found that explains the art of color matching (which I thought was done very well). also picked up some good tips on how to prepare gelcoat for filling gouges, how to thin for spraying and the effects of over catalyzing gelcoat. watching this video has given me the confidence to do some gelcoat work on my boat in the Spring rather than do a total repaint of the topsides. plan to order the other two volumes. the instructor apparently is in business for himself and also sells supplies. they give you contact information at the end of the video so if he's still around I'll probably order supplies from him and maybe try to pick his brain with a few more questions.
