A test of will and power. A mark of manhood. For hundreds of years, stones have been a crucible of change from boy to man.
No one knows this better than poet, philosopher, and strongman Steve "Inver Stone" Jeck, who has infused, dare we say, thousands with his passion for lifting stones through his book (with Peter Martin) Of Stones and Strength, his tapes and DVDs, and his poems and essays in MILO.
Steve confronts a new challenge in Kviahellan: The Pen Slab, that of lifting the original 418-lb. Husafell Stone in Iceland and carrying it around the goat pen, to achieve "fullsterkur" (full-strong) status. You will see Steve first prepare himself for this monumental feat, physically, mentally, and spiritually, through his workouts and his strongman shows. Then you board the plane with Steve for the remote, windswept fields of Iceland wherein sits the Husafell Stone, still guarding the goat pen built by pastor Snorri Bjornsson over two hundred years go.
Does Steve lift the Husafell Stone? Can he make it all the way around the goat pen? We won't ruin the surprise, but as with all things, the growth, the change, the transformation come from the journey itself, not the destination. Be captivated, be inspired, and be humbled as you travel with Steve and find yourself in new place when it's all over.

The video is quite professionally done, and consists of four threads, interleaved: Steve Jeck's trip to Iceland to carry the Pen Slab and thus prove himself "fullsterkur" (fully strong), Steve's weight-room training, excerpts from Steve's motivation speaking to high schoolers, and short interviews with professors of medieval literature, wherein they talk about the place of proving stones in Western culture. I was fascinated by the video for several reasons: I'm interested in Icelandic history and I'm interested in stone lifting (the most I've ever done is a clean and overhead press of an approximately 100lb stone, for one rep...I've got quite a ways to go before I enter Jeck territory!). The video was so good that I've watched it twice, and plan on watching it at least once more.
I just watched this - It's pretty interesting. The neatest part of it is seeing someone train for something so unique and specific. Please note: the strongman provides conservative motivational speeches as a part of his strongman fellowship. They aren't very informative or dynamic - Watching the end when he attempts the lift and walk towards 'fulkerster', waiting to see if he does it, is very captivating. I guess you will have to rent it to see if he does it - worth seeing once for certain.
If your into stone training, this video is for you. Jeck is one of the foremost stonelifting experts in the world. The film gives a nice overview of his training in prparation for his Iceland trip to tackle the Husafell Stone.
