Gunsmith Ron Phillips, of Wilson's Gun Shop, shows you how to completely disassemble the 1911 AI pistol to its smallest parts and then reassemble in the correct order for optimum safety and reliability. Attention is paid to the order of disassembly and the nomenclature of parts as well as the proper lubrication points and amount of lubricant.

I really enjoyed the Wilson' Shop disassembly and reassembly of the Colt.
Great detail and close-ups. The gunsmith went at a slow pace so everything could be clearly seen.

Being new to the platform, I found this video instructive and interesting. The camera work could be a bit better, and some of the armorer's descriptions and explanations could have also been better, but on the whole it did a good job of showing how a 1911 Colt comes apart and goes together.
My 1911 doesn't have some of the same parts as this one in the video. I always have trouble putting it back together. Not much help in the video.

Solid fundamentals. I would recommend it to anyone with a 1911 pistol, simply to learn more about the pistol you own.
I found the gunsmith knowledgeable on the 1911 he summarily ripped apart in minutes. I missed a few parts here and there, but when he re-assembled it made sense. The only disappointment; he did not take the sights off. I was hoping he would at least demonstrate the sight removal and re-assembly even if just to say “here I would use a staking tool… bla, bla, bla”. For the purposes of strip down, clean, lube and re-assemble the DVD is great.
