After reviewing these videos I feel more at ease for my upcoming checkride. During the mock oral session, a few really good explainations where used by the "student" to answer the DPE's questions.
Even though I highly recommend watching this video a few times before your checkride, don't rely on it as your primary means of preparation. There were a LOT of potential questions from my ASA private oral exam guide that were not asked during the video's oral segment. Of course, a completely comprehensive oral exam would last days. So I don't think of that as a failing... just something to keep in mind.
And the video is a little out of date. They referenced the acronym A.R.R.O.W. including the "Radio Operator License" which is no longer required for US aircraft operating within the United States. The "student" also mentioned that a mode C transponder was needed for flights OVER class C airspace. I can't find that in the FARs...
Summary: Good video for certain explainations and to get a feel for the checkride. But a little out of date and missing some potential questions.
You can buy this DVD package for 99 dollars but why? If you are about to do your checkride and you are concerned (like me) add this rental to your "to do list". ANY and ALL media that prep you for the checkride is a good thing. I'm glad I found this service, I'm going to rent other pilot related DVDs. Hey it can only help!

These videos were extremely instrumental in my passing the oral and practical part of the checkride. although all checkrides are different, i felt much more prepared and ready to answer the questions that I was going to be asked, as well as the visual depictions of the different maneuvers. Get #1 and #2 for the best training.
Fantastic!!! A must see if you are going for your private pilot checkride.
So what should we expect during the "checkride"? With this presentation we get a preview of what the checkride will likely be. I am very pleased that I rented this DVD package and also glad I didn't buy it as I think one week with each of the DVDs is sufficient for the purpose.
I rented this just before my checkride, and wow! What a positive difference it made. It made me feel more at ease, that examiners are human, and reinforced the basics which were the focus of the checkride. Not totally perfect, they should introduce common errors, such as the one I made on my first checkride, which resulted in me having to retake one portion of the test (then I got my license, flew the next day alone, to bag a 10lb Walleye in Lake Superior!). But it did help make me feel more comfortable during my oral and practical portions of the checkride. I recommend this for anyone about to take their checkride.
It took forever to get here but, once I got to review it was time to send it back, which didn't take but 2 days. Some of the things mentioned in the dvd were not covered by my instructor. Minimum controlled airspeed with full flaps and taking a 30 deg. bank is a bit nervy to me. Too much at risk for only 40 knots. Maybe I am glad I did't get to watch it twice.

Glad that I rented it. I rented three and didn't get to the other 2 before it was time to return them. My lose. This will help me prep for the oral to get everything in order before I sit down with my examiner. My instructor did not go over any of this. All that he was interested in was sitting down with the "Private Oral Exam Guide" for 8 hours and calling it good for $40 an hour. He would not sign me off for the practcal until we "did" the book. Again my lose. Highly recommended.
This set has lots of bad jokes and great information. I have recommended this set (especially the first disc which covers the oral portion of the test) to a couple fellow student pilots. It really made a difference on my checkride, which I passed on the first attempt with very little difficulty.
As others have said, these DVD's should be part of a comprehensive test prep including real maneuver flying and studying other things like the POH, weather info, and charts. These are definitely worth reviewing!!
