These videos are for all persons. They are designed for almost everyone with a variety of tools you have on hand.
This video will get you started and started thinking on grinds. This is focused on what needs to be done and how to do it, not who is doing it. This does not replace mentoring, but will start you off in the right track if you do not have one.

ALL ABOUT GRINDING,was good, I picked up some very useful info from the dvd. The jig to do hollow grinding was a plus.
Well, not ALL. I rented as a woodworker looking for jigs to grind edge tools easily and accurately. Somehow the video description failed to mention that this is ONLY about knifemaking, and mostly about freehand use. Good if you want to make knives, I suppose, but not ALL about grinding.
it was great!! just wish someone would make a serrated edge making video
Good for a first time maker with lots of basic information unfortunately the video didn't really discuss any one grind in any detail it left me wanting a lot more especially in regard to finishing. The hollow grind section was the most complete and the jig was an excellent tool.
If I would have purchased this DVD, I would have been very upset! The fact that I can rent it here makes it so much better. This is the second DVD from Gary and still he has not finished the knife! I think he wants you to spend $300 on DVDs before the knife is done!
Very pleased to learn what grit to use. Great jig idea. Obviously they know what they are doing and aren't hung up with traditional methods.
I would recommend the video to anyone that wants to learn. The dvd were very good I learned a lot from them. They explain everything that has to do with what ever you are trying to learn.
I picked up some good info from this video but the should have spent a bit more time on planning out the video and editing. There are times when the scene changes right in the middle of someone saying something and it really felt hurried. There were a number of good points made in the video about how you don't have to start out with the best or newest grinder on the market, but I feel the video would have been easier to follow if they had spent a bit more time on the production and editing.
outstanding video. Very good for the beginner. I took away several things that helped. Grinding fixture used was very neat and I intend to make one.
