Josh Grant is European trained and holds a scientific glass degree and twelve years of experience in his field. This video includes eight advanced borosilicate marble making techniques, the use of precious metals and stones, color application, and dichroic glass application. Josh also demonstrates his signature flower marbles. This is not intended to be an instructional "how-to" video as there is no voice-over narration, although flameworkers of all levels of experience will find many useful techniques from this demonstration.

Sorry to say this, this DVD is the not worth watching. I consider the money spent on this rental wasted. I can't imagin who would find any value in this 4th rate production. I will look to see what reviews there are, surly no one would regard this as art, informative or entertaining.
The only problem I have with this video is that it should say up front that it is not an instructional video. It is a demonstration. There aren't really any words spoken on the video.
Having said that, anyone with a little experience working in glass and making marbles can learn from this video. It shows him making 8 different marbles. The Corkscrew is something most every marble maker learns as their first marble. It's one of the first ones I teach to my students. The "wigi-woo" or whatever he calls it is more commonly known as a "galaxy", and again, watching him make it will tell you what you need to know.
The different implosion marbles are the same way. While he doesn't say what he's doing, if you are familiar with making marbles and implosion techniques, you won't have any problem replicating them.
The only one I don't think is great is the "universe" marble. That is a complicated marble to put together, and some of the techniques you don't see him doing. Maybe that's on purpose, as I have yet to see a published tutorial/article/video on that technique. I had to learn it from experimenting.
So, other than that, the video is good. Just keep in mind, it's NOT and instructional video. That's why I didn't rate it any higher than I did.
This DVD is truly a demonstration only DVD. Being new at lampworked glass there are some techniques that I have never seen and the jumping from step to step seemed to leave out necessary details if your goal is to learn the techniques. The music must be turned off, so keep your hand on the mute button and pay attention closely. You will need to rewind.
As others have noted this video is not a training video. It is simply someone making marbles with no explanation of what they are doing. If you are interested in learning marbles, skip this video. There are much better ones out there. Freeman Corbin, Essential Marbles is one of the good ones.
