This is a great video for anyone who knows the basics of machine and hand sewing and wishes to make their own pleated drapes.

We were quoted over $3000.00 (after the 60% discount), by a national department store chain for drapes in our living room and dining room. After watching this video, my wife and I were able to measure, cut, sew and install the very same ($3000.00) curtains for less than $500.

Dianne Apple is a very good teacher and her video is well paced. The only negative... It appears to have been shot in an analog format, so you have to squint in two or three spots to make out the detail.

Just out of curiosity I rented these videos to see the differences in technique between upholstery and clothing sewing. I have rented the Merv's Upholstery videos listed elsewhere on this site.

Becky Titus is a great teacher. You feel you are sitting in her sewing room and she is your private teacher. The only negative... It appears the videos were shot in an analog format, fortunately Becky uses contrasting thread and material so you don't miss a stitch.

Merv is upholstery's sensei.

I am grateful when craftsmen, in their respective trades, share their tribal knowledge with those of us who are curious enough to watch and listen. Merv does just that in each of his videos.

If you've ever wanted to trim your old hot rod, repair that padded shop stool the dog chewed up, or re-cover your favorite old chair then you need to rent Merv's videos.

Shot in an analog format, voice over by Merv himself. Good visual detail, well paced and tons of information.

What a great workout!

Don't let the Street Fighter title keep you from renting this DVD. Men and women are shown demonstrating a number of self-defense fitness techniques with a Wavemaster punching bag.

My wife, 5 year old daughter, and I are all using the workout to get/stay in shape and simply have fun excercising.

Great production value.

Here you will watch an experienced craftsman demonstrate the correct method of cutting, fitting and stick-welding round pipe.

I've read negative reviews for other DVDs from the same instructor. And I agree with one criticism, these videos are not "professionally" produced.

No, the work is not performed on a set in a sound stage. And the footage appears to have been shot in an analog format. We're standing in this man's garage/shop while he teaches us his techniques for working with the unique geometry of round pipe.

And I am always grateful when craftsmen, in their respective trades, share their tribal knowledge with those of us who are curious enough to watch and listen. Gregg does that in each of his videos.

All the videos in Kevin's Paint-ucation series are very informative. If I owned a professional shop, I'd share this series of DVDs with my work force.

For a guy like me, who does this kind of work as a hobby, the techniques on this DVD gave me a clear understanding of color sanding & buffing how and why.

I don't mind admitting that I was able to unlearn some things I had been doing wrong for more than 20 years. And replace the "wrong ways" with the right methods that took less time and materials and produced a better looking finished product.

Analog source, but good production value.

You can paint your own car! Kevin really shows you how.

Please pay attention the the safety information presented in this DVD. Stay healthy so you can paint many cars in your lifetime.

Watch this DVD, purchase the masks from Mike's Web site, then watch the DVD again and follow along.

When you airbrush, you mask with Frisket, contact paper, tape, cardboard, plastic, etc. Mike has developed a great system. You get tutored, a source for the professionally cut vinyl masks and a sudo-paint-by-numbers approach to creating nose-art type graphics.

I went a little retro and sprayed Bree (the model), a bit more '40s era. A throw-back to the pin-ups of WWII.

This DVD is way too cool!

Ron Covell always has high production value in his training videos.

If you've ever wondered what it takes to chop or section a vehicle with compound curves, watch this DVD.

If you're in the process chopping or sectioning a vehicle with compound curves, watch this DVD.

If you're thinking about chopping or sectioning a vehicle (any vehicle), watch this DVD.

A follow-up with metal finishing on this same vehicle would be great to watch too.

Like Ron Covell, Kent White is a metal working sensei. He worked for Harrah's and did metal work for the Hughes Racer in the film The Aviator.

If you watch any of the Discovery Channel car or bike shows, then you've seen folks form metal into some incredible shapes. If you would like more detailed information on how those processes are performed, you should rent this DVD.

You're in Ken's dojo, watching him do some amazing things with an air hammer of his own design. He offers plans, parts, dies, or the whole air hammer on his Web site. But you don't have to own one of his air hammers in order to form some of the same shapes.

Shot in digital format, great visual detail, well paced and tons of information.

Image Based Modeling: Essentials is a very well produced DVD-ROM. Many of the Gnomon Workshop titles are.

If you want to learn about photogrammetry or how it is used in the movie and television industry, this is a great place to start.

Realviz ImageModeler and Maya are the featured software products.

This DVD is formatted for Mac or PC only, so you won't see anything on a DVD to TV player.

If you can build a wooden box to hold your mold, then you can easily move-on to the next step and produce a mold for casting almost anything.

From tail lights to hood ornaments, jewelery to faux rocks, etc. Watch and become inspored.

Real world processes are thouroughly explained and enhanced visually with 3-D animations.

Shot in an analog format, but well edited with good production value.

It's Ron Covell. What more can be said?

You can apply the techniques detailed here for other metalcraft projects too. Fenders, headlight buckets, blisters, etc. And not just motorcycles.

Ron is a true craftsman. Not just in the metal work, but also in the production of this DVD.

It's a Ron Covell production. It's got to be great?

This DVD explains everything a newbee would ever want or need to know about using the english wheel. After watching this title you should feel confident enough to wheel your own sheet metal.

I had really only seen the talent on Discovery Channel work with the english wheel on the various car/bike shows. That got me interested enough to rent this DVD. After watching it, I had to have a wheeling machine! I've been able to produce some really cool stuff.

A fabricator friend of mine who has been using an english wheel of his own construction for about ten years, learned a number of techniques from watching this video that he was able to apply immediately.

It's a Ron Covell production. It is great!

For the beginner, the intermediate and the advanced metalworker...

Nothing here is beyond the beginner's ability, while the intermediate and advanced metalcrafter might learn a few tricks or get a remedial brush-up.

If you own any of Fournier's books, this DVD supports them with moving pictures and verbal explainations.

The two Rons share some insanely-great information on this DVD.

From darkness into light...

Paul Zank exposes the process of rebuilding a number of popular differentials in this title.

As a hobbiest, I removed, serviced, and re-installed my Ford 9" in one day. Without the help of a voodoo priest. That old rear-end performs better than it did before. And now I know how it works.

Very well produced. And Paul is a great instructor... Listen carefully, he's talking while he's working. He doesn't miss a beat!

Steve presents a full-semester's worth of information in the 45 minute DVD.

Well produced, organized, and to-the-point.

Concise coverage in this 45 minute DVD. But I don't believe Steve missed any of the basics.

Good production value.

Recently I needed to weld some sheet metal for one of my projects, and I knew my MIG just wouldn't be right for the job. I couldn't justify a TIG, I'm just a hobbyist. So an Oxy-Act set-up seemed well within my means.

But I'd forgotten all of the set-up and safety stuff since high-school graduation! That was 1984... Not that I'm too embarrassed to ask the folks behind the counter at my local welding supply house. But they're not there to instruct or build confidence beyond the sales pitch.

Thankfully, TVR and Steve Bleile were there to help. Watching the DVD was very informative and allowed me to successfully complete my project.

Since then, I've rented a number of other metalcraft DVDs from TVR and many (not all), of the instructors recommend gas welding over TIG. I've since purchased a jewelers torch and have become very satisfied with my results.

I wonder if this was Ron's first video? Don't misunderstand... It's all good!

This man is not afraid to admit when he's made a mistake. See the disclaimer after quenching for an understanding of the above question.

I believe one of the reasons I like him as a teacher is that he's humble. Not to mention passionate about sharing the art of his craft with all of us who are willing to watch, listen and learn.

Ron covers so much in this title. I've applied everything in there with great success and satisfaction in my own projects.

While Mickey Harris doesn't have the name recognition of Mike Lavallee, he is more-than-capable of creating and teaching his techniques for producing a realistic flame paint job. Mickey gives props to Lavalle.

Shows four different paint projects, the first, a race truck, the second a Chevy SSR street truck, third, a re-do of the race truck and fourth, a Corvette for D.A.R.E. It's interesting to see what Mickey learned from the first race truck, then applied to the second.

Well produced, and thoroughly explained. The only negative... The guitar/percussion music bed gets old after the third loop.

This is a great DVD. There is a wealth of information here, beyond the title and description.

If you're going to be repairing or restoring your own vehicles definately rent this DVD.

All the videos in Kevin's Paint-ucation series are very informative.

Analog source, but good production value.

Now here is a really cool alternative method for clean pinstriping!

Using drafting tools and paints Rudy demonstrates a practical means for creating clean straight lines and precise geometric shapes with a number of line thicknesses.

My rental came with printouts which I took to the copy shop and duplicated for future reference.

Yes, you can use these techniques on your rod or kustom. I loaded my drafting pen with 1 Shot and went to work. The results are outstanding.

Discussion of pen sources and maintenance. Processes thoroughly explained, and well paced. Analog source.

Very well produced and detailed rebuild of a Chevrolet V-8 engine.

Process oriented, logical workflow is explained.

Great footage of the type of work you can do yourself at-home and the stages of work jobbed out to the machine shop.

Newbie or advanced will learn from this title.
