I rented the 3 DVD Set, and I can say that everyone of them had good content, informative, and really spends the time to make sure you don't miss anything. That being said, if you have never watched a DVD with David Charlesworth I'll let you in on a little clue.....he is about as slow as it gets, tone doesn't change much either. Don't get me wrong I was not expecting an action flick, but be well rested when you watch the DVD's, no matter how good the content was the delivery was rough. Content 5, watchability 2.5.
Enjoyable but for the most part nothing that I have not seen before. If you have never seen a DVD on Hand Planes or Sharpening is good to watch. Overall he helps get over the fear that the hand plane is some mystical item that can't been tamed....which is true.
He simplifies the system so you arn't overwhelmed thinking it's impossible to do, but it doesn't mean that I'm ready to chuck my jointer or planer. If you are really dead set on using only hand tools than it's a must watch, if you are interested in how it's done its enjoyable, if you are looking for a new quicker way replace some other power tools or want to get away from the dust and noise of the jointer and planer to prep wood then go out and buy a dust mask and ear plugs because I could never see spending that much time working on one board.
Good DVD, would recommend it for anyone wanting to do work with hand tools. Probably the best DVDs I've seen so far.
