This instructional video, one by the artist of the three current notables of watercolor from Australia including Robert Wade,and Alvaro Castagnet, has merit in presenting some technique, however it is limited. The first painting failed because of wind in a plain air setting and a second painting was inserted with the hope no notice would be seen. Later paintings became very complex and detailed with no hope to understand the why and where for of the strokes necessary for the painting to be completed. Finally, the color mixes lacked both verbally and pictorally which for the most part is given freely in other instructional videos. There was some alluding to the consistency of the mixture which the artist reported in his book likened to coffee, creamy etc. but it is an methodology that is uninspiring. Overall, I feel this artist is worth viewing but instructionally he has a bit to go.
I felt this video should be viewed by all artists from the beginning to the professional. In one word of summary: outstanding. It is presented in clear, precise views which one waits from one moment to the next with baited breath, so to speak. Want to learn to loosen up, watch the video! Want to see great color, good composition, unbelievable brush work, watch the video! Nuff said.
