This DVD was the biggest waste of money that I could have spent.
This was an excellent video set. It must be very popular because I had to wait for it. It was well worth it and I will rent it again very soon. Johnnie is an excellent teacher and does not make me sleepy.

It was a good DVD but I was a little disappointed in the final portrait. The proportions did not look right to me, but perhaps it was the different angles that he was looking at and then the camera was filming at a different angle. All in all, I loved to watch him paint, but I would have preferred to hear him describe his method. His English was not all that bad.
This was a great video. I would recommend this one to anyone. I have his book and it is also great.

She is a very good artist and had some very good points to make. I do not think this DVD is good for beginners. It is edited and it omitted some parts that, to me, were essential in any pastel instruction. As I was waiting to see how she did something, the next scene showed it already done. Since she does not use her fingers or a stump for blending, I really wanted to see how she laid the color down on the beard and the hair. This was still a good lesson.
This man is an exceptional artist. I do not care for his slow brushwork although his end product is outstanding. The critiquing part III was well worth renting the DVDs. I would definitely rent it again and recommend it to beginner and experienced painter alike. I did not consider this comment when I rated the DVD, but I have to say SHIPPING WAS VERY SLOOOOOWWWWW. Ten days in the USPS is totally over the top. I have no solution, but I will notify Smartflix as to the number of days that it takes to receive the product from now on.
Liliedahl again does not disappoint. Excellent demonstration of the three color palette. I tried it and just couldn’t believe the color combinations. I would certainly recommend this DVD to all painters.
So far I have only watched Tessa. I have his book so I already knew about his painting mixtures. I learned a lot from the “live” demonstration and he is very thorough in his explanations of what he is doing and why. I would highly recommend this video. He completely paints over his initial sketch, so I never understood why he went into such detail just to obliterate it. However in his next steps, he manages to again create the facial features perfectly. If I could afford it, I would buy the entire Howard Sanden set.
