I got these because I have always been interested in building a mandolin. If you are contemplating this, either from a kit or from scratch, you need to see these DVDs. The presenter is very good, photography is very good, and the info is great. Shows lots of tricks and tools. Well worth the rental fee.

I have a few issues with this DVD. First and foremost, the instructor picks up an AR-15, complete with magazine and pulls the trigger. NO! NO! NO! A gun, all guns, are always loaded. You drop the magazine, pull the charging handle several times and then you can pull the trigger after you have made sure it was unloaded. All instructional DVDs need to show safe gun handling. Second thing is why someone wants to do a trigger job. If you want a match trigger buy one. After the trigger was worked on it broke at a very light setting (seemed unplanned). This is not a science but more of an art. Anyone trying this should have several extra parts on hand. I wanted to see before and after pieces next to each other. The DVD does gives a great explanation of how an AR trigger works. That's worth the price of the rental. AR's for serious work should keep the stock triggers. Buy quality trigger parts (DPMS, Rock River, Armalite, Colt) polish them with a Cratex wheel, and learn to shoot with it. Two stage and match triggers are just that, for match shooting. Be careful, be safe, and have fun.
