Mark Goerner is another Excellent and fine artist in the industry. This DVD is not just a tap into is work method, nor is it a step-by-step as how to create amazing sketches of interiors. It is important to know that his skills have been developed and matured over years of PRACTICE, but he will most definitely teach you the IMPORTANT things you NEED to know and how to approach and look at the space. For those who have no idea where to start a sketch he also let's you know that sometimes neither does he and he provides techniques in which to express and move forward. Mark Goerner is a MUST HAVE for anyone who wishes to excel in interior sketching and design. If you are not even in it for the drawing then you will be inspired by his words and technique.

Personally having the Feng Zhu Collection I have learned a lot from Feng and in comparison to Mark Goerner, their styles are different, because they are different people (naturally). Feng Zhu's rendering DVD is a GREAT way to bring your sketches to life for presentation and understanding the environment. If you want to take it a LOT further then this DVD from Mark Goerner will certainly drive and inspire you to go nuts on every environment you create. I must say that for the first laydown of color the video is sped up, but in all honesty, if you are not at the level where you don't already know how to derive your palette and fill the canvas with color and work out your light source, then I suggest you learn first... Feng Zhu's Vol. 4 will help on that for beginners. Mark Goerner Vol.2 is really a continuation to Feng Zhu's Vol.4. He will speed past the first stages of laying down the light source and then really get into DETAILING which is the HIGH POINT and AIM of the DVD. You will see that even professionals have their shorcuts and it's just a means of creating a great image FASTER and EASIER. A MUST GET.

volume 1 of Scott Robertson's DVDs is a very informative and easy to follow DVD. Whether you already know the content in which it addresses or think you know, you are likely to find or hear something that you have never considered before. Excellent DVD and is recommended before starting on the other Volumes to follow, I myself will recommend it and say that practice and practice of the freehand technique will work wonders on your line quality and thought process when sketching thumbnail images.

I have to say I was disappointed greatly by the DVD. Though Dusso is an amazing artist, this DVD is not exactly inspiring, nor is it a strong motivator to get started at attempting Matte Painting. What this DVD TRULY is, is a window into how a professional works at roughing out light and form to give a sense of reality. That much you will learn and see how to think about light and shapes and then in the future apply those ideas to your own work after you PRACTICE PRACTICE and PRACTICE some more on your own. This is not a DVD for teaching you how to Matte Paint, but a very QUICK view of how to approach it. I give it a middle score on the rating because it still is a good DVD for what it does provide you... after all, given all the information in the world, it's still up to you to explore it on your own.
