These videos are excellent. Schmid knows how to make things clear and concise; he's a good teacher. It's a real treat to get to watch this master painter in action, braving the weather changes and making a beautiful painting.

This video is really helpful and nicely done, and an added bonus is that Weistling is entertaining at the same time -- plenty of dry humor along with continual explanation of his painting process. Two different approaches to painting the head (or anything else) are demonstrated. Weistling talks about the pros and cons of each, although he definitely prefers the second, more direct method. A real plus on the DVD is the workshop critiques. Weistling goes from student to student critiquing each painting, and then working directly on each one. I learned as much from this (maybe more) than the first part of the video. This is a wonderful video from an exceptional artist and teacher.
