Great video! Johnnie takes it slow, and gets very detailed. The enclosed worksheet helps as it contains all of the materials you will need to paint along with her. Renting is a great way to see whether this video is worth purchasing, as renting it for one week isn't enough time to really get all of the benefits from it.Lots of "tricks" to create a great painting are given by this artist, and I think it is great for beginners on up!
Johnnie does a beautiful job in this video. She goes slow enough for you to pick up on what she is doing and shows you how to create a realistic oil painting of a child's face. The only "flaw" is that, at times, the camera is too far away to get the full benefits of the detailed work she is doing. At times, the camera is zoomed in, while at other times, mostly toward the end, it doesn't move in close enough, so you have to really listen carefully to what she is saying. Over all, it is an informative video!
Johnnie knows her "stuff"! Although it does become a little boring and slow at times, she shares all of the important things we should know about drawing before we start trying to paint. I recommend any and all of Johnnie Liliedahl's instructional videos/DVD's,books, etc. She is a fantastic artist and teacher!
