Although he seems at times to be making some stuff up as he goes, KUDOS to John Sebastian for being so UN-self-conscious. It's as if he's explaining how to play harp to a younger family member, so he doesn't care if he looks a little weird as he explains things. The point is; you GET it, in a way I haven't seen in this much detail and clarity in other harp how-to videos.
The basic info is sound, but somewhat out-of-date. Voices and mics may still work the same as they did a decade ago, but other recording equipment, techniques, plugins and Web-based distribution (not to mention Web-based sessions) have changed the landscape radically.
I could do without the psychedelic filler video stuff, but I'm just being picky. To have 'insider' info on what plugs to use, initial settings and why to use them is pretty invaluable. Be sure to have a notebook and pen handy!
