This video series is the holy grail of hand planes know-how. I have spent more time reading and trying to understand how to use/maintain/sharpen planes and plane blades. This is THE definitive set to acquire that knowledge. At times, the video can seem a little slow, but it's only to ensure that the viewer understands why his steps are so important.
Very good review of how woodworking machines operate. Although the video as a whole is good, the parts I found most useful were the sections on tuning up a table saw and changing out jointer knives. He provides an excellent visual review of how/why boards warp.
THE BEST video on how to cut hand-cut dovetails PERIOD! There's some really good "extras" that I took from this video as well, such as measuring using a story pole.
I hate to say this, but this has to be one of the worst videos I have seen. The quality alone makes it virtually unwatchable. For example, the audio was not psynched to the video and it is totally disjointed. The author may have some good points, but I was so distracted by the amateur quality of the DVD that I couldn't even focus on what was being shown.
This is a fair to mediocre video. It's definitely not a video that keeps you in your chair. The announcer walks through a house and shows potential problem areas to look for when shopping for a home or preparing your home for sale. Most of it seems so obvious that you really don't need someone to tell you. For example, the video talked about making sure the burners work on the stove. I would call that common sense and not professional advice. I will say that, if you are a first-time home buyer, it would be a good video to rent.
This DVD is really only valuable if you are studying for the NEC(?) exam (I guess). I was hoping this would SHOW how to perform various wiring for various situations. This is NOT what this video is.
Excellent algebra tutorial. I recommend the whole set!
Definitely an interesting watch. As the hosts state in the beginning of the DVD, they won't discuss camera gear or F-stops. The topics became a little long-winded and philosophical and less about the creative process towards the last 20 minutes of the video.
