I have read a few books on sharpening the hand graver/chisel and never got the concept. I viewed this vedio 3 times and was able to grind, polish, and cut lines & curls by hand and hammer with little trouble -- the process shown works. NOTE - I did not buy the sharpining system but used a less expensive angle holder and ceramic stones. It worked very well.

This DVD is a "must" view for the beginner. It is clear, down to earth and explaines the process of sharpening, & polishing the graver/chisel. It does presents the authors unique talent of making it look simple and easy to understand which gives the viewer the confidence to tackle the engraving process.

I have watched the intermediate engraving DVD and find that it also is presented very well as was the "Beginner DVD". I recommend this DVD to others with an intrest to further develop their hand engraving skills.

I rented DVD #2 and had high expectations. Alas - I was very dissapointed in both the verbal presentation and the demonstration of the technique used to form fonts. Mr. Tamme should have employed someone with verbal skills to present what he was "trying" to accomplish with the graver. As far as a demonstration "how to" DVD it is woefully lacking. Save your time and money unless you have insomnia!

I rented Vol. 1 and was pleasantly surprised. David KNOWS his planes and sharpening them. This was one of the best instructional video's on the subject I have watched so far. It was easy to understand, to the point, and it works.

I found after viewing this video that their are other ways to "skin a cat". The demonstrator validates the tital of the video - "Sharpening Simplifed". The author is not out to sell you the most expensive equipment to get the optimum results. Simple but efficient - anyone can do it.

Very good for the beginner. He explains the process very well and the photography is excellent. Recommend it highly for the novice.

This is good information, not enough on "how-to" and too much on "look at me & my work". One quater of the video is tools and how he uses them the rest of the video is him "selling" his work.

This info was exactly what I was looking for. I found it informative but I would have liked it even more if the author showed how to make a thread chaser.

Now this is what I was expecting to see and MORE! This DVD is VERY informative! Too bad I did not find this DVD 6 months ago and $350.00 earlier! I broke a gear on my lathe and paid to have one made. You will need to watch and listen carefully because he makes it look so easy with his little machines. I also found his use of "pie" and that lousy calculator annoying. His description of "diametral pitch" stunk - but using a "Machinery's Handbook" or a good text book you can figure it out. Worth renting!
