The first 45 minutes of this video is pretty dull, it focuses on tramming the machine. I'm not a very advanced hobby machinist, but it was too basic even for me. Also, Rudy speaks very slowly. It's better to watch the video with a program like WinDVD which allows you to slightly speed-up the playback speed.

The DVD gets a lot better starting in Chapter 3, he covers some clever setups, general pointers, endmill sharpening, indexing, etc. Overall a worthwhile rental.

Just like the Advanced Mill video from Rudy, this one spends the first 45 minutes discussing how to zero the machine. However, unlike the Milling video the lathe zeroing section demonstrates several clever setup tricks that I have not seen elsewhere. He then moves on to discuss milling in the lathe and other things. This is definitely a worthwhile rental.

This video is excellent. It's kind of funny how the speaker is wearing full welding gear even though you never see him weld anything and he's leaning toward the camera at such a steep angle that you feel like he's going to lunge at you. In any event, the info presented is first rate and takes a lot of the mystery out of getting good results. There are a lot of shots of welds being made and the camera work and illustrations are excellent, clearly showing the weld puddle and how the gun needs to be moved. There is no hand-out to accompany this DVD, and he presents a lot of specific recommendations for wires to use for specific materials, so it would be a good idea to have a pad around to take a few quick notes so that you don't have to watch the whole thing over again to answer a few specific questions. A++

OUTSTANDING! I wish I had seen this video when I first bought my minilathe.
