The concepts were interesting, yet not practical for any home shop machinest. My biggest complaint is that much of the filming was done in real time. I don't need to see them screw on and torque every single bolt. The same information could have been conveyed in a 15 minute short. If you want to see every single aspect, including all the failures like water leaks in hoses, then this video is for you. And you might want to get a pet turtle or a pet rock if the turtle is too fast. If you just want the information then you are better off reading a page on the Internet.
Good information for titanium. Unfortunately, Bob does not get into anodizing steel or aluminum, but makes no claims as such in the video description. Maybe changing the name to The Electrolysis of Titanium would have been better. The technique seems sound and while Bob shows safety concerning the shorting of the anode and cathode, he does not show much safety concern with the electricity or handling of chemicals. Bearing that in mind, the information on the process itself is good for beginners.
Ugh! I don't like giving low ratings (or the lowest so far), but this video is definitely lacking in any real world application. I've rented quite a few of Ron's videos and have been extremely pleased with everything up to this one. From the minute he rolled out a custom fabrication jig, I knew there were be very little info you could use in a home shop. It was just like watching Norm Abrams on PBS when Norm pulls out custom tools that just don't exist. The notching techniques were interesting, but you had the extreme of a high quality mill with proper burr or metalworking 101, nothing interesting in the middle. Laying out the bends was also interesting, but Blind Chicken Racing and a host of other sites show the same thing. I guess that would be really good info if you had not seen it before. All-in-all, Ron probably should have called this one, "Building a Chopper Chassis for the Professional Chopper Chassis Shop". I've got more of Ron's other videos on order and know they will be more geared toward real world projects.
