Polly shows us clearly her design process, using only 2 values, dark and light. She demonstrated how she ignores local colors, as well as values to create the dark/light pattern to suit her eye and message. I found it a fresh, effective and eye opening video.

She comes to painting with a background in graphic design and expresses concern over her "commercial" as opposed to a "fine art" look. However, she confesses that when she allows her self to paint as she chooses, she has more fun and likes her own paintings.

She offers a door to experimenting in design. I found her easy to understand and likeable.

Sherri McGraw is a very accomplished artist, a beautiful woman, with a beautiful studio. As she herself requested, the video was artistically created with only the natural north light her historic studio was designed to provide.

This lesson is not designed for beginning painters. I would estimate that it is for advanced intermediates, and experienced painters.

For more easily accessible information, I would recommend any Johnnie Liliedahl own videos designed for beginners. They are clearly created with a great deal of thought, well scripted, and illustrated. While they are not "glamorous" they are the best sources of good solid traditional information in an understandable presentation that I have found.

Ahhh, if only I could be a canvas under Robert Johnson's brush. He clearly loves painting and caresses his canvases with his brush. He makes the difficult look easy and understandable. He gives a wide range of information so that both a newer painter and a more experience one will benefit and enjoy this DVD. Recommended!

Ann Templeton is a clear thinking and speaking down home gal of a teacher. These two DVDs discuss abstraction of the landscape in a comprehensible manner. Although they are geared for a specific media, if you are interested in abstracting the landscape in any media, I highly recommend either DVD.

My experience with Yupo has been minimal. This video opened many possibilities that may have taken me months to discover without its help. Very good information presented with quality production, lighting, sound. Recommended!

I have become a big Johnnie Liliedahl fan, as her Illumination series is well thought out, well written and clearly presented.

She has helped me reframe and give new meaning and use to information that I already knew. In addition, she presents new facts clearly.

The Understanding Color video, she discusses why she has chosen 9 colors out of the hundreds available. Her selection involves considering the many characteristics of paints; opacity/transparency, warm/cool, light/dark .

She is full of essential basics that I have found has allowed me to take big steps forward with my painting. Her videos are not "glamorous" brush aerobics, but rather, they are fact rich, well illustrated, clearly presented information. If you are a beginner to intermediate painter, I highly recommend Johnnie Liliedahl's Illumination series.

A quick course in basic music theory. She discusses the structure of a major and minor scale, as well as how to build chords.

This is an introductory course in Harmonica for the rank beginner. That's me! While it is not an overload of information, it does covers how to blow and draw. If you know anything about harmonica, you may prefer a different DVD.

I am quite new to lampwork bead making. I found this Mr. Smirchic to be both clear thinking and articulate! The camera work is well done as well.

This series is the best I have seen on soft glass work available.

This DVD is a Liliedahl production, and as usual, it is of highest quality. Hedi is the loosest painter of all the Liliedah guest and brings a more contemporary approach to her lessons. She begins with big masses of color and builds with free strokes that come together as a lovely work. Using only one flat, inexpensive brush, she works quickly and with spontaneity! She is competent teacher and easy to follow. I would recommend this for intermediate to advance painters.
