Video: TIG Welding

This video is EXCELLENT! The instructor covers all the fine details of the TIG process as well as describing the equipment and the accessories. Most importantly, the video appears to have been professionally produced because the sound, lighting, and graphics are top-notch!

I was rather disappointed with this video and others like it from the same instructor. The sound quality is poor because of background noises from fans, barking dogs, birds, and compressors running in the background. The instructor also leaves out important details of the welder such as amperage and polarity. This video (and others in the series) was unprofessionally produced, in my opinion.

If you are hoping to quickly learn a few pointers in the first 30 minutes that will make you invincible at arguing with people, then this DVD series is not for you. It is a comprehensive college-level lecture that digs deeply into the history of argumentation, as well as explaining every detail of what makes a good argument. The speaker is very articulate, and his enthusiasm for the subject matter kept me listening and learning during the many hours of lecturing that he does on the subject. I recommend this course for someone who wants more than just a cursory overview of the subject matter.

There is a lot of good basic technical information in this video. It details all the math and science of what works and what doesn't. But don't worry about it being college-level boring.... It isn't. The two men who speak talk in every day language and they make a technical subject understandable to the average person with a basic understanding of math and mechanics. The one thing that I didn't like (and was pointed out in another review) is the bad attitude of the narrator. He even makes a very insulting anti-Christian comment at one point, which has no place in a technical training course. That was completely inappropriate.

There are two guys who speak in this video. The older guy who is the Hydrogen and alternative fuel expert, and the narrator who never shows himself on camera. The narrator is the guy with the chip on his shoulder and who made the inappropriate comment. If it weren't for him, this would have been a totally awsome course.

If someone is going to take the time and effort to make an instructional video, the least they should do is learn proper techniques of producing good sound and video quality so that the information can be understood by its viewers. All the videos in this series have very poor sound quality because of fans and compressors and other noises in the background. The instructor also leaves out critical details about the welder, such as amperage, polarity, and type of rod. I was very dissatisfied with all the welding videos in the series by this instructor.

This video was fairly well made, and it introduces you to the basics of creating molds for reproducing solid objects. The instructor gives many hints and tips that you may not find in other basic casting tutorials. Computer graphics are used to augment the instructor's verbal teachings, and everything he says gets repeated in "checklist" form after each lesson segment.

Excellent tutorial for the beginner TIG welder. The quality of the audio, video, and lighting is very professional. I've viewed other Welding and metalworking DVD's that were poorly done, but this one is way above them! The only negative remark that I have is the speaker repeats himself too many times concerning the post gas flow and how important it is. Once or twice would have been sufficient. Otherwise, the material is excellent. The speaker comes across as being friendly, he speaks clearly, and he obviously knows what he's talking about.

Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, I would like to see an advanced TIG welding DVD from this same person.

Video: Figure It Out

The instructor does an excellent job teaching some basic math skills that are essential to the machinist, model maker, or hobbyist. There were a couple of things that he mumbled while explaining how to calculate the positions of spokes around a wheel, which left me puzzled, but overall, I found his teaching methods to be interesting and easy to follow. If math is not one of your strong skills (as is the case for me) this DVD will help a great deal in teaching you things that you had trouble learning in school!

One of four DVDs in the series. Very well made, with good audio and video. Richard Osterlind devulges many of his great stage tricks that he has performed for over 30 years. I recommend these DVDs to any Magician or Illusionist who wants to learn some truly amazing tricks. Osterlind not only describes in detail the mechanics of each trick, but he also elaborates on the patter he uses, and also on HOW the tricks should be performed in front of a live audience or small group. In my opinion, these are some of the best DVDs of this type that you will find anywhere.

This DVD teaches how to clean a house in a systematic way so that you can do it quickly and effectively. That's great if you operate a motel or a Bed and Breakfast, but I don't see how this can work with kids in the house. We all know that kids are constantly making messes, and if you try to use the system taught in the DVD with kids around, you will be cleaning your house without end! It just won't work. The speaker owns a cleaning company, and his crew goes into a home, and within just a few minutes they are done. So, his techniques are great for that type of situation, but not for a family raising kids.
